History
It started with the establishment of Northwest Maritime AS, with location Harøy, in the Municipality of Sandøy, in 2012, by a dozen persons with all kind of connections to the Maritime Industry.
The philosophy behind the company, was to supply technical support services to Ship owning companies, and other companies within the maritime industry, in addition to develop own projects, with the idea of both management and to own stakes in ships.
In November 2013, Northwest Maritime AS, was contacted by AXA Engenharia Ltda/ Donizeti Carneiro, a long term business contact in Brasil, from earlier. Together with Kongsberg Maritime AS, they had won a large pipeline survey contract , from Petrobras, specified for use of Kongsberg AUV`s.
(AUV) Autonomous Underwater Vehicle.
Due to vast bureaucracy regarding sale of such AUV`s to Brasil, Northwest Maritime AS, ordered 2 Kongsberg Hugin 3000 AUV`s ,in January 2013, to a total price of approx. 85 mill. NOK.
Geco Searcher was pinpointed for purchase, for the role as AUV mothership, no.1, and partly paid for , in march 2013.
It became clear that the size of the operation to be, would become to big for Northwest Maritime AS, alone, so in August 2014, the whole company was sold to Deep Ocean Group AS, together with the majority of the shares of Brasilian AXA Engenharia Submarina Ltda .
Summer 2014 Northwest Management AS, was founded, of the original owners of Northwest Maritime AS, in order to continue the lines set up for the development of Northwest Maritime AS.
By the end of 2014, Northwest Management AS, was certified by DNV-GL, AS Ship Management Company, with Document of compliance through their system.
